Kinda in denial big-time here guys. Half a year with this one and it couldn't have gone more quickly. I remember when Flora was a month old and I thought to myself: she'll be six months around Christmas - eating *REAL* food and maybe sitting up and stuff! Well she's definitely eating real food. Also sitting up. Also crawling around in pike position (like a cave man) everywhere and anywhere. Also now starting to walk along the couch; so let's just go ahead and call that fully mobile Flora Grace. You little speed demon you! You aren't making this speedy time go any slower my sweet thing.
Flora's favourite food so far is a sweet-potato mango puree. Her first food was applesauce and sweet potatos. She gagged to high heaven on that applesauce and near gave me a heart attack. I forgot how stressful it is to start the whole feeding process again. But she's definitely getting the hang of it now and is picking up the cup as well like a little champ. She's eager to try anything which is no surprise since that's her new word: eager. Flora is eager to get going and be places. She does this cute amazing little air wave beckoning at an object when she's out of reach but wants something. She loves it when juney gets right up in her face (which who doesn't love a sticky little 2-year-old three inches from their nose??) and it makes her giggle and giggle. She's also started getting into all of the toys that June is playing with eliciting no less than 45 "mamamamamamamama I NEED YOU TO MOVE FLORA"s a day. Flora also has a sense of humour because she'll grab at our face and then pull back and chuckle at you - she is also so snuggly and reciprocates kisses; if you kiss her neck and cheeks in quick succession she'll repay you by turning back to you, mouth open wide and slobbers all over your face. It's pretty awesome. I could have her kisses every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner and I'd never be hungry because they are that good.
Flora's two little bottom teeth are charming and glisten from her gummy smile. I love this toothless age. She also loves patterns on her clothes and will sit and scratch at the hearts on her pj's or the cat pattern on her pants. She wants nothing more than to make you beam with pride and she'll crawl over to whereever you are sitting or standing and pull herself up and she'll just glow at you. It's really is so wonderful to see her learning and changing and growing. But I maintain; where did that newborn go? I just spent lazy summer afternoons cuddling you yesterday! Now the world is dark and your face is filling out and I can't quite wrap my head around how beautiful life is. How did I make you? Why are we so lucky that we get to have you with us? You have made our family full and we just want to say thank you for that and we'll do our best to keep fostering that little personality to the best of our abilities.
Happy Half Year Flower!!
