(traditional "Hunter Boots" pose ^^)
Otherwise known as, what's new in my life.
Aka, sometimes I suck at being a home-keeper.
Last summer we had a pool. It was a bit of a haphazard, dilapidated old thing that the owners tried to use as a bargaining chip when they sold us the place.
"Oh, well, we'll throw in the pool," they said.
To be fair, the first summer we lived here, Mike had a great time keeping it up and using it. But last summer it was so cold here, and the shoddy filter system just never seemed to get rid of that green tinge.... anyway we only hazarded to use it a few times. And it just wasn't worth it. The risk of tetanus when you climbed the stair case just wasn't worth it.
So piece by piece we tore it down; last fall, the liner and the surround. A few weeks ago, we ripped out the retaining wall. And now, we're left with a gaping hole in the middle of the yard. Last weekend when we got back from a weekend of gardening at my sisters, we took to the bare patch and attempted to make it grow. Today, there are a few tiny green-man hairs on the clay-y patch of earth.
Since we have to keep Cliff at bay to at least show our neighbours were making some sort of attempt to keep up the property value, we erected a wire fence. So far he's only jumped it once. I also saw him narrowly run into it whence chasing a squirrel. I feel like they know they're teasing him....
Also since we're talking about what's new, Mike's baking things! First there was a loaf of bread, then eclairs shaped like swans, then a lemon merging pie; it's because of the chef program he's doing. I'm a bit jealous because baking used to be my thing... the good thing that has come of it however is that he understands the value in our kitchen aid mixer, which has been out of commission since last summer when Cliff pulled it out of the wall and chewed off the plug insert. Renewed interest in getting it fixed!
Fine by me. Also this bruschetta dinner which was a yummy way to take care of some "home-work" :)
Happy Friday Folks!!
