This post is sponsored by my friends at Basic Invite who make absolutely beautiful stationary. And I have to come clean about something - I'm the world's worst blogger and wanted to have this live for you all much earlier so that you could rush to their website for your own Christmas cards. The good news is there is actually tons of time to order because their turn around time so reasonable (PHEW)! also - the other good news: so much more than just Christmas cards and after this experience, I'm definitely going to be using the service again and again (and I would say that even if this wasn't sponsored, girl scouts honour!) Thank-goodness their efficiency makes up for my chaotic organization skills!
I put together our Christmas cards using some of the family photos that we had taken earlier this fall earlier and I'm already so happy with them!! (spoiler alert; not the one I posted above... didn't want to wreck the surprise if you're on my mailing list! ;) ) The Basic Invite platform was a dream to work with and this creatively-challenged, non-quite-a-millenial-and-sometimes-techy-challenged-very-busy-mother appreciated how cute and modern looking they came out. I even added my own touch to them which made me feel, you know, cutting edge. So without further ado, here's why I'd recommend Basic Invite any day of the week. And while I have been paid to write this post, I only choose products that I believe in (I'm super picky with my time and yours I promise you that!) and this is one you are going to want to check out.
1) You can customize everything!
So the templates that they provide are super cute and a great trendy and modern starting block (especially for someone like me who has ZERO creative eye for graphic design (ahem... the header on my blog!!)) but unlike other sites I've used, the customizing of colours and font is really easy and straightforward. Here's an example of the drop down colour menu (below). I love how it lays the choices out so you can see how they'd work together. And you know what element of the card you're changing the colour for since it says right below the circle. EASY PEASY.
2) The Preview Function speaks my love language
Have you ever been editing something in an online platform and it makes you save, re-save, takes you to a new screen, or takes a million hours to change? The basic invite platform works seamlessly so as soon as you make a change to say, the colour or the text, it changes immediately within that same window. I especially appreciated this because I have a problem with saving and re-saving copies all over my hard drive (my file management is a disaster) and further to this my computer is a dinosaur and moves as slow as one. Along the same lines, the interface with the preview platform, the customization, and the photos you upload is very seamless and quick!
3) PEEL AND SEAL
Um. How much do you hate licking envelopes? I think I've seen one episode ever of Seinfeld (don't hate me) but it was the one where George's fiancé died from licking their wedding invitations. Thank you for that Seinfeld; I spent the entire time leading up to my wedding and sending out thank-you cards thinking I was developing some kind of tumour from the toxic junk you lick off of envelopes. Peel and seal? Yes please very much so. Basic Invite offers that for mostly all of their products. I absolutely love that and I'm going to start a campaign to end the lick to seal envelope right after next week's baby-tot music class ;)
4) COMPETITIVE PRICES
I have to start by saying that sometimes it can really suck to be north of the border. I've been dinged wayyyy to many duties than I care to admit out loud (my mom would slap me on the back of the head if she knew..) using platforms that don't offer duty-free options to their Canadian clients. So when Basic Invite reached out to me, I made sure that this wasn't a service that was going to cost Canadians more, just because we're Canadian. (because we all know we're awesome and we should receive a discount if anything, amirite ;) ;) ) On top of not dinging me major bucks at the border, their pricing actually beats out most of the competitors (I checked myself) *especially* because they offer prices in CAD, and further to that, it's worth it because the products look designer-specific which a lot of the cheaper options decidedly do not (made that mistake before too.)
Gah! Look at that beautiful flag down there! Tell me what other stationary companies advertise that? I love an american company that realizes what a big market they have north of the border! <3
So what do you think? I'm having a hard time deciding truth be told. I love that pop of red but there are a few other options calling to me. If you were watching my stories on instagram the other night I mentioned how horrible I am at making decisions as mike can attest (going to a restaurant with me is painful). I'm going to try my hardest to only order one option!! And given that it's November 29 I'm going to go and do that riiiiighhht now (you should do the same!). I'll do an update when I receive them to let you know how they turned out! Thank-you again to Basic Invite for making this a quick and painless process!
So; who's got their christmas cards done and sent out already? tellmeyoursecrets!! ;)
