Somehow we're nearly half-way through the summer and Flora Grace is two months old. yesterday I realized I haven't slept more than a two-hour stretch since May 21 and I guess it's starting to show: last week I put the pay-and-display parking slip in my back pocket instead of the front dash. Crossing my fingers that month three means a longer stretch - we can do this baby girl!!
Month two has been a bit more difficult than month one because Flora has been wearing Pavlik braces for hip dysplasia (She has to wear them 23/7 so I made use of her hour of "free time" the other day when I took these pictures. It was hard to get a shot where she wasn't stretching out everywhere - I can't say that I blame her!). I won't get into that now because I have *a lot* to say about it. for now I'm gonna focus on lovin' this sweet two month old and making her smile and almost throat laugh because she is totally already trying to do that! I think it's because she's so eager to be part of what's going on around her and trying to get that crazy sister of her's to pay attention to her. when she doesn't get attention she's learned how to ask for it - and i kinda like how girl already knows how to command a room.
She loves holding her hands in tight fists with her thumb tightly clenched between her first two fingers. she loves face massages or having her eyebrows stroked. She loves belly rubs and she loves listening to her daddy make funny cooing sounds, watching her sister do *anything*, moana songs sung like a lullabye (that's the only thing in circulation in our house as of late), the sound of the vacuum and the white noise soundtrack on youtube. she *LOVES * sleeping on her mama's chest and being wrapped up tightly there for a nice long nap. She does not like: being hot, coffee (unfortunately for me!) sudden loud noises, and laying on her back for long periods of time and her stinky old pavlik brace (but we're learning to love it because we know it's for the best <3 )
This month Flora went on her first official road trip, saw a UNESCO world heritage site , picked strawberries, made homemade ice cream, took lots of walks to the park and had mexican food in the byward market. We went shopping together, spent long afternoons cuddling and listening to instrumental classic disney tunes and went for her first swim in the pool. Flora we love that you are so excited to be part of the family and it's only been two months but it honestly feels like we've always had you with us. You are a beautiful flower of your very own and we are cherishing these early days with you.
