We're in Florida! June is currently eating chips off my plate, Flora's napping and the temperature keeps rising so fingers crossed we can go swimming this afternoon! Regardless of the weather (it's been pretty unseasonably cold?), we are having such a wonderful, wonderful time together as a family. After a couple days in, both Mike and I can feel the stress barometer falling and the sun is an extra bonus (apparently it's a massive snowfall and -7 back in Ottawa so let's be honest, anything *not* winter weather is tropical for this northern family. ;)
Mike and I were last here in 2013 before we were engaged and married and before we had kids (wow a lot has changed in four years). It's kinda funny how different our lives are right now and yet how similar our priorities (disney, christmas stuff, eating, nights in at the resort). Mike is a special kind of wonderful and he knows how crazy I am about disney and so on both occasions he's jumped in feet first. Though I did ask him what I'd have to do to get him into one of those "family disney" outfits and he pretended he didn't hear me which usually means that will happen in never years.
Our girls. Our girls have made the vacation so far. We were up at 5 am on Friday and they travelled until friday afternoon with zero meltdowns, sleeping where and when possible and just all around being the cutest little beings on earth. I just feel so so grateful to be here spending time with my family. It's been so cute to watch them grow closer together - Flora is starting to want to play more and June is trying to encourage her into her games. June is also growing up overnight - the conversations were having with her now are next level and she just constantly blows me away with what's going on in that little head of her's. She's also been sleeping in a full sized bed while were here and it will honestly be weird to go home and put her back into a crib so I think that change is imminent and I just can't quite wrap my head around where my first baby has gone.
We have approximately 2 pictures together as a family (and we're almost all looking in this one!! ^^win!) and I have about 92 pictures of the back of June's head as she frantically looks from one sight to the next. we've been calling flora florida the entire time we've been here (her nickname for the past months has been Flori - Florida) and she has been a dream baby just content to be included in all the bustle and activity. We visited the neighbourhood called "Celebration" on Sunday. It's this perfectly manicured neighbourhood and it's kinda like walking around a living and breathing movie set. You are looking at the perfectness of it all thinking - do people actually live here or are those facades just a set? but there is a highschool and a downtown and a recs and leisure centre complete with a playground that we told june we could play in and then quickly were met by the huge *for residents only* sign, so I gather people do live there. they had a fake "snow" just as the sun set and we were like - wait. why are we cheering about fake foam snow? come to ottawa and we'll show you *SNOW*. Ha! It was cute though really. I mean, they tried ;) Either way it was picture perfect and the christmas decorations were so beautiful on all the houses and it totally got us in the christmas spirit!
Yesterday we went to disney and I haven't processed all the dreams come true yet so I think I'll just have to do another post on that when I've caught my breath ;)
plane selfie ^^
life in a hotel with a baby who crawls and puts everything in her mouth. I cringed the first 48 hrs and now I'm over it. because when you can't fight it, join it.
