I know everyone has been back to school for a couple weeks now and the beginning of September always feels like the end of summer, but I’m still sitting here in nearly 30 degree weather editing photos and video from the past couple months, which is awesome because it wasn’t allowed to be Fall until I finished putting this little video together. This project has been both fun and also heart wrenching because 1) who really likes to say good-bye to good weather? and 2) a few months in the life a two-year old and a newborn is like a lifetime. I can’t believe how much June’s face and hair have changed in the time span since Flora was born. And Flora has morphed from this itty-bitty squish into a full blown baby that is rolling over and smiling and cooing. It’s insane how much kids grow in a short period of time. When you look at it this way it’s no wonder they have cranky days or days when all they want to do is eat… they are literally growing right before our eyes!
So looking back on our summer i feel like we spent a lot of time in our bed just enjoying each other’s company….reading books, napping and chatting. There was also a lot of time at our parks around the city and after looking through all the clips I took at our public parks I’m so grateful to live where we do. I literally just had to walk out my door and around the corner and there was lots to see and we were able to get our fix of outdoor weather. I think one of my favourite days had to be our trip to parliament. I cherish those clips of June running on Parliament Hill.
As a new mom of two, I knew it would be really necessary to have low expectations for this summer. There were days that the dishes piled up in our sinks. There were days both kids went to bed without a bath. There were days I lost my temper in the heat, and days on end that June ate noodles for lunch. But all things considered, it was a great summer and we’ve still got the tan lines to prove it! I’m gonna hang onto my sandal tan as long as possibly human because it’s the best littler reminder that I did get good dose of vitamin D this summer. It took me longer than I anticipated to put this video together because I actually took a good amount of clips - but I still feel like I want more. I’m so grateful to have video. I curse technology sometimes but this is not one of those times… to see my little babies’ faces moving and looking at me is really priceless! How beautiful life is my friends.
Ok. Now it can be Fall! I’m off to find my box of decorative gourds!
