the day before Flora was born we went to the Arboretum at the Ottawa Experimental farm to take some "family" photos ... quotations because there isn't actually a photo with all three of us in it since we were taking them ourselves (I'm always still so shy when it comes to asking a stranger to take a pic for us!) looking back now we didn't know it would be our last time out and about together as a family of three although We had kind of been operating under the assumption that any of the outings could have been "the last" .... still, it was pretty poetic for this one to actually become our last. For starters we seem to have made it a bit of a tradition by pure chance of going out the night/day before each of the girls have arrived. (You can see pics of June's last 24 hours as bump here.) And even more timely was the fact that we managed to get our "yearly" photo in front of the tulips in; it started the first year around mother's day and now we've been going to the same spot for three years in a row to get the same picture of me with my (now!!) girls. It's such a neat tradition to have and I totally can't take credit for it because it's my sappy and sentimental husband who started it, and insisted we go back. Definitely one of the many reasons I married him because he is just too thoughtful that way! Makes up for it in ways that I'm lacking <3
2015 - 2016 - 2017
While we were there we let June run around like a banshee/mad scientist (that hair of her's right now, I tell ya... there's *no* taming it) and we got some other pictures together. I think maybe even more poetic then the fact that we got the yearly photo in time before Flora arrived was the fact that we were simply surrounded by flowers. Spring was just blooming that weekend - it was a bit late this year because of all the rain we've had - and to find out a short 24 hours later that that tiny human inside that gigantic bump was Flora herself, well, it's like God was just calling to us. As we were walking around we also stumbled on two different flowers side-by-side, June Rose followed by a type of Virginiana Phlox (June's full name is June Virginia). So if our girls ever ask, we officially have two flowers and I have the photo evidence to prove. it. Here are some of my fave pictures from the day!
And there we go! Off to have another baby!! Life is so beautiful - I can't believe how lucky I am xoxo.
Hope everyone else is having a beautiful morning and HAPPY FIRST DAY OF JUNE! How is it possible that we are half-way through 2017 already!?
