This is weird. Two running posts in two days! Last night I got home from work and walked around the house; first I looked at the dishes that needed to be unloaded from the dishwasher, then I looked at the grass that needed to be cut. Once I had decided to procrastinate, I toyed with looking through Pinterest at wedding related projects, but immediately felt overwhelmed. I wasn’t tired, but I didn’t have a lot of energy. I ended up on the couch watching two re-runs in a row of The Cosby Show (the one where Vanessa and Debness break-up, what!) before I finally found myself staring at my running clothes which I’d left on the edge of the bathtub that morning. Somehow I ended up putting them on and I coaxed myself outside. I just started with a slow jog at first; I didn't get much faster. About half-way through I realized; the days I’m most unlikely to want to run, are the days I get the most from it.
Tomorrow! I’m in my first ever Spartan Race. It’s supposed to be about 30 degrees here so I’m actually hoping for some sort of water or mud related obstacle. Full disclosure; I have never really understood the people who force themselves through obstacles when they're already running. So many times in high school they asked me to run the steeplechase (because they just have people beating down the door volunteering). I just couldn’t wrap my head around the idea of having to jump over something when I was already doing all I could to move in a forward direction. Enter April when Mike signed me up for this race without much consultation.
Here goes nothing! Have an amazing weekend.
