I am absolutely in love with the amount of daylight June brings! It feels like a gift when you get home from work and you feel more or less invigorated until about 9 pm. Last night I managed to get a run in, ticked some items off the to-do list, and then I found myself going back outside to weed the garden for a good half-an-hour (I actually love weeding. So cathartic!). And after that there was STILL daylight left. I just recall in the winter how by 5:30, I feel ready to crawl onto the couch under a blanket in front of the TV. Honestly, I’m a summer child through and through.
Mike’s been ridiculously busy lately; he’s working full time, and taking a chef program full time so there are a bunch days in the week where we don’t see each other until about 9 or 10 pm. Last night though this man of mine got home after a looonnng day, but he was so excited from what he had learned in the kitchen that morning that he wanted to make us a dinner (I don't mean to brag, but come on. Honestly. So proud of him!) And miraculously, there was still sinking sunlight when we were able to sit down and eat a delicious fish sandwich. I’m just happy he’s following his dreams and still wanting to feed me in the process. ;)
There probably couldn't have been a busier summer to cram more into… I mean so much planning and stuff going on! But isn't it true that the more you put into a day, the more you get out of it? I love how the summer just begs you to get the most out of your days.
(someone please remind me of this when I'm feeling a bit frantic in August!)
